Groom, Groom

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Good Morning across the ditch. This is a combined post for last night as well as this morning. The pikkie above is a Piston Bully snowgroomer. They are a brilliant machine and without them decent skifields find it hard to match the surface of other fields that do. Mostly they do their work at night but during a night ski they all come out to play.

What’s this got to do with us you ask? *Giggle* I buttonholed the ski grooming manager on Friday night & asked ” Do you take people up the slopes in the groomers during night ski?” Bingo. He said yes, so I arranged to go for a ride last night. Oh wow. An hour & a half later, along with a blast on a ski-doo I had my wish granted. Totally amazing. Only thing is that in order not to distract driver, no phones or cameras allowed. All I can say is it was well worth asking. Thanks Greg, appreciated. Anyhows, that’s all for this morning. To be continued. I am returning to Oz today but Roger remains and I will be in touch and will update the pages on his behalf.

Saturday Coffee!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Hi all.

Well, it’s a beautiful day here across the ditch, just gorgeous. Our kiwi cousins still don’t know much about snow guns and continue to blast us with snow, consequently we both have wonderful glowing faces…still not happy Jan!!!

We went up early and did first tracks which was magic. The Doctor told us to go down early as we needed some medication to treat the lurgi with. Expensive stuff though, made by James Walker & Co way over in Scotland. Must be good though, has a black label 🙂 🙂 🙂

We have found a cafe that makes the best coffee anywhere in these parts..Cafe Mondo in Arrowtown. Thanks girls, just wicked !

We are about to have some lunch, do some shopping & head back for night ski, after which I will do another post.

Night Ski

Back on the chain gang again!

Hi folks. Well, we went up for a night ski. First time ever we needed chains at night!! What a hoot…we have the mankiest set of chains imaginable. They so suck!

Now, while we are complaining, let us just say on the record…whoever left the snow guns on full belt, in a southerly wind needs their head read! NOT HAPPY JAN 🙁

Who needs facial treatments when you have 100+ snowguns blasting at your face. Needless to say we had enough and called it quits. That’s all for tonight everyone, we’re off to have some “cough medicine” and omlettes!! tata for now

Snow ahoy!

Well, finally some decent snow. After a couple of days of fits & starts the forecasters got it almost right. We went to bed last night with tiny little flurries of snow and awoke this morning to…nothing!

So disappointed, but as if by magic, just as we left, it started to snow & it came down like a trooper. Coronet had a most welcome top up plus all the snow guns were on so now the mountain looks half way respectable.

We have come down early to have a bite to eat & to fuel up and we’ll hit night ski tonight so I’ll get some more pikkies and do another post tonight!

A new update

Hi everyone.

As you can see we have moved to a brand new website which is quicker & easier to maintain. I had a day off as I wasn’t 100% so I put the time to good use. Roger hit the mountain and if the forecast is correct we will have quite some snow in the morning and that means some pikkies!

IF

Hello world!

Hi Everyone!
OK, so I’ve been a bit slack. To be honest I just haven’t had the energy to update the pages. I have found the extra bit of
physical activity taxes my energy severely 🙁
Th dreaded lurgi has settled down but had a scare with Roger yesterday. Thought he might be coming down with the gremlin
but he was fine this morning. We had a little bit more snow overnight and coupled with all the snow guns running Coronet
was looking beautiful this morning, but challenging. The nice white coating hid the fact there was a solid crust on top of
sludge which made things interesting.
I have some more photos to put up which I will do tomorrow but for now this has to do.
