Hi All.

Well, another amazing day over here. Lots of firsts today. Longest we have ever skied during the day. Most vertical metres, most daytime runs. Roger & I attacked the bottom half of the M1 and also Michels Mistake.

Got a high five & a fist bump from my instructor at the end of the day. Stoked at my serious improvment. It was a really nice day over here. Bluebird as they call it. Finally left the mountain and decided we really needed to celebrate what we achieved. Really happy & just a bit merry.

It looks like Friday night is going to be a big one, we’re off to a drinkies night. That should be a real hoot, but I don’t think our skiing on Saturday morning is going to be all that good 🙁

Anyhows, didn’t have to call a wambulance today, we’re both fine so now it’s off to relax to get ready for tomorrow.

Hi Everyone.

We had a fairly alcohol free day yesterday so when we finally hit the sack we fell into a rather deep sleep. That is until the mongrel contraption above woke us up at 12:30am. Think World War 2 air raid siren & you get the picture. Blasted away for 30 - 60 seconds to bring the local fire brigade online. After that is was a fairly restless night.

That was until we got up. It was just below zero,  so we quickly woke up. Had a great day on the slopes, came back & had a couple of bevvies at the local the kickedback. Couple more pikkies in the album for you.

Oh dear. A casualty of this mornings frosty conditions. Hope to have a drive by video on the video page soon!

Wee-ooh Call the Wambulance…again!

Hi all.

It’s been another great day here in NZ. Have finally added all the pikkies taken to date. Has been another really nice day and we both survived until almost the end. Then Rodgie missed a turn & his skis took revenge. Ooops, one opened up knee 🙁  Not bad at all, bit of cold ice/snow soon fixed that. Anyhows, do enjoy the pikkies, finally!

Wee-ooo, call the wambulance!

Well, it is the 13th after all. Started off with me doing some unintended ice skating. Kept it sort of together but tweaked my right knee. ( OK, so the de-icing system on the deck at Coronet failed & shki boots & ice don’t mix well ). Then Roger got almost bludgeoned to death by the safety bar on Greengates Express ( actually a bunch of Aussie snowboarders yanked it down too early ). Bonged him on the head, catapulted him off the lift and the seat almost gave him a haircut. The snowboarders got booted off and all was good. However, then I got sort of rear ended  by a learner and went down in a clatter & tweaked the same knee. Again 👿

So, we retired back to the cottage after an injury plagued morning & made the decision not to make things worse by doing a night ski. Bit of a bummer, but being the 13th we didn’t want to risk the rest of our holidays. Instead we stripped off to boardies & singlets, hit ourselves up with Deep Heat and had some wonderful Scottish medicine. Already feeling better 😋

It’s now about time to post some photos which I will do tonight.

Hello!

Hi Everyone.

I know it’s been a week but what with the drama oif getting away, then getting organized over here then going totally ballistic skiing there hasn’t been a lot of time left. We do have to socialize, enjoy drinkies and sleep as well you know!

We’re both well, enjoying skiing immensley and relaxing. We have s few photos which I will toss up later on today and do more of an update tonight. Love to everyone.

Hello!

Well, here we are again. No photos as yet, been a bit gloomy but we’ll get to that….

So, where do we start?  What a day of dramas on Sunday. Roger arrived safe & sound and we were doing a final pack when I realized the key to my baggage lock was gone! After a frantic search, Roger found it. Had dropped out of the lock & gone for a walk under a table. Bad lock! Found it with just 5 minutes to spare before the cab arrived.  But wait.. there’s more. Cab arrived and instead of the maxi taxi we booked so we could get our skis in, they sent a normal cab without fold down rear seats. After some inventiveness and a helpful cabbie, we gone everything in and off we went. In hindsight just as well they sent the cab they did because he was a very helpful driver. Got to the airport, checked in, went through customs and were about to go through scanners. Did the usual, put compter, etc, in tray, went to put wallet in tray & guess what…. No freaking wallet!!!! PANIC. Rang cab company, rang Mum & got her to check. Tried to find security at airport in case it had dropped out of pocked when we got out of cab. In the end, cabbie came back to airport but it wasn’t in the cab. Airport security weren’t open so it was into the cab for a quick drive home. Hurrah. Found it at home so raced back to airport. Thanked cabbie, gave him some good karma for his help, raced up to Air NZ lounge, had time for 2 pieces of toast & a coffee before we had to board. Talk about cutting it fine. Got to NZ & the car we booked was not available so we had to take something else. Not quite what we wanted, but it’ll do the job. Got up this morning and had a great ski. Then went down to town to do some shopping $ get money out of bank. Oh dear.  Roger forgot his PIN & machine swallowed his card.  I tell you, we have had some dramas. Anyhow, had a great afternoon/night first at one pub, then another then continued with the owners last night. In spite of being a bit smashed & wobbly this morning we had a really good first days skiing. Very cold, dull & snow showers over here. We do have a couple of pikkies to upload, oh yeah, nearly forgot…Rogers camera also died this morning 🙁

So, that’s all the drama so far. We’re both good. Skiing is great and the medicine all the way from Scotland is helping us unwind.  Watch this space.

Here is a quick pikkie from Coronet this morning. A very light dusting of snow overnight.

Back Again!

Here we are back again for another year. Planning is now complete and season passes booked. Now all we have to do is wait for time to tick by. Doing things a bit different this year, we are flying in direct to Queenstown which will give us an extra 2 days skiing 🙂  Only downside is we will miss the beautiful drive up from Dunedin. Apologies to Carolyn at Ezi Car Rentals, we won’t be seeing you this year 🙁

Hello again!

Sorry it’s been a couple of days, we ran into internet troubles and didn’t get things going again until yesterday. The shot above is dawn at Coronet over one of the ski club buildings. We went over to the Remarks on Thursday to clock a few runs and take a peek at the new base building. I reckon they should have swapped the base buildings around. The new design should have been at Coronet.  Very nice building but the one big attraction….a huge indoor fireplace. It was nice & toasty. Didn’t get any indoor photos but photos of the outside & of the Remarks runs are in the pikkie gallery.

Friday was a ripper of a day. Both Roger & I had probably one of the best ski days we’ve ever had. Both clocked up a lot of time on the snow. Did both morning & night skis. Got a couple of shots of the groomer fleet heading up the hill ready for night ski.

This morning we went up to Coronet as usual, but it was a slightly shorter morning as we needed to tidy house up & get things organized as we intend to do a night ski tonight and then we’re on the road in the morning heading to Dunedin. See you all soon.
